Bettas

These are some sketches that I made based on Jeff's doodle in his notebook. I found it oddly therapeutic to research and draw these fish.

Fun stuff. :-)

UPDATE (3/28/08) - And now that we've been released from our NDA, I can say this was done with the Sketchbook Pro 2009 Beta.

Two commercials

I've been making commericals for/through xlntads.com, and here are the two I've made so far.

The second spot, 'Better Bug', was fun to make, as I learned so much. I bought the model from turbosquid, as I didn't have time to build one, I rendered it with Maxwell Render. The rest of the spot was made with Motion, and Photoshop combined with iShowU. I won Final Cut Studio 2 with my first commercial, and I was excited to use it on this second spot. I recorded the drawings being 'painted' using iShowU, and then animated the camera moves in Motion, and put everything together in Final Cut Pro.

Gesture Drawings

These are from Ryan Woodward's gesture drawing class last spring. Conté on newsprint. The clothed figures were 5 minutes each, the rest were 2-3.

One of the class brought kimonos for the model to wear, and it was a lot of fun to draw the folds and the flowers rolling over the cloth. All of Ryan's stories about working on Spidey 3 made me throw in some extracurricular 'goo' on the model.
